On November 4, 2013, the Whovians@UCI united with Cal Animage Epsilon (Anime), Dumbledore's Anteaters (Harry Potter), and Role Playing Games club for a Halloween celebration of epic proportions. Never before has a coalition of four clubs come together for one night of a shared mutual love for four individual fandoms. Never before has an attempt been made to bring together four nations so that their members may meet people so much like themselves. Never before in the history of UCI that we are aware of has such a successful and fun night been had by all.
There was an endless supply of candy, several categories to win in the costume contest, and a full lecture hall of people dressed in their finest cosplay and original costume. And to top it off, a murder mystery persisted throughout the night in which all the members of the four clubs were randomly assigned into four nations and were encouraged to work together to determine the murderer. And who played the roll of the suspects? A handful of people from each club volunteered to serves as NPCs (non-playing characters) who remained fabulously in the character of who they were dressed as the whole night; offering hints, suggestions, and dead ends. It was certainly awesome (in all senses of the word) to see everyone work together to eventually solve the mystery and find the murderer.
All in all, a great night and a wonderful production by the officers of the four clubs for their members. Look forward to more unions between the clubs in the future.
(PS: pictures of the festivities can be found on the Whovians@UCI facebook page)
With Fall Quarter only a day away, the Whovians@UCI have already have had a successful and eventful week.
The Involvement Fair brought us a many new fan of the show and member of the club. Students young and old came to our booth with an excitement for the club and eagerness to join. Those who love the show have found a place to revel in that love with fellow enthusiasts. By the end of the day, the club had collected a loyal following even larger than before. We certainly are bigger on the inside!
The following day, we had our very first club viewing party and met some new members. It was a night full of episodes, pizza, and freshly baked cookies. And the appointment of several new members.
Also, we are very pleased to note that nearly 300 people have joined the Whovians facebook page. So whether you are with us in person or in spirit, we welcome you one and all, new and old.
See you at our first meeting!
The website is now updated! It now states the correct meeting place and time, as well as a clear link to our Facebook group. If you haven't already joined our Facebook group, please do so. We use it to remind you of meetings and also to share awesome Who-related things.
Soon we will be getting a new Torchwood Communications officer who will regularly update the website with important information. Hope to see you at future meetings!
-Laura, aka Companion-in-Chief
We're now quite officially a club, with a site address that redirects here (http://clubs.uci.edu/whovians) and an e-mail address, email@example.com. We even won $5500 worth of Zipcar driving credit, which will take us to meet other Whovians and go to an amazing convention during Spring Break. Things have all been happening very quickly, so from now on, I'm only going to post things on here that are direct quotes from officer's important posts on Facebook. Why? Because I don't feel like paraphrasing things. What kind of English major do you take me for?
Please come to meetings. Also, remember to join us on Groopt for reminders of all our events, which I will often post links to on the Facebook. Huzzah!
I'm currently in the process of converting us to a real UCI clubs website, so until then, bear with me. All important updates will be posted on the Facebook group.
Thanks to everyone that attended the first meeting! Congratulations go to Myron Lozano for becoming our new fundraising chair.
Chris Kilby has also volunteered to design our T-Shirts. He deserves hugs from everybody.
For now, meetings will be held in DBH 1100, hopefully on Fridays. Until we can get the copyright issue worked out, we'll find other fun things to do at meetings. Hope to see you next week!
Congratulations everyone on an incredible first meeting! So many tears shed for the loss of our beloved Amy and Rory. Moffat!!
Everyone who paid their membership fee is now featured on the members page, beneath our lovely group picture. If anyone's name happens to be misspelled, or if someone was left out, please let me know. A small assortment of candid shots have now been added to the site as well. There will be more after every meeting.
Also, we're now actively looking for designs for our T-Shirt. Remember to submit ideas to the Facebook group for consideration! You could make a lot of Whovians very happy.
Olla, Emma here. Your future website person.
This is the official website for the (upcoming) Doctor Who club at UC Irvine!
Meetings will most likely start sometime next fall, once we have a meeting place, schedule, and blah blah blah. I'll get back to you on that.

That would be the bar on the side, over there.--->
