On November 4, 2013, the Whovians@UCI united with Cal Animage Epsilon (Anime), Dumbledore's Anteaters (Harry Potter), and Role Playing Games club for a Halloween celebration of epic proportions. Never before has a coalition of four clubs come together for one night of a shared mutual love for four individual fandoms. Never before has an attempt been made to bring together four nations so that their members may meet people so much like themselves. Never before in the history of UCI that we are aware of has such a successful and fun night been had by all.
There was an endless supply of candy, several categories to win in the costume contest, and a full lecture hall of people dressed in their finest cosplay and original costume. And to top it off, a murder mystery persisted throughout the night in which all the members of the four clubs were randomly assigned into four nations and were encouraged to work together to determine the murderer. And who played the roll of the suspects? A handful of people from each club volunteered to serves as NPCs (non-playing characters) who remained fabulously in the character of who they were dressed as the whole night; offering hints, suggestions, and dead ends. It was certainly awesome (in all senses of the word) to see everyone work together to eventually solve the mystery and find the murderer.
All in all, a great night and a wonderful production by the officers of the four clubs for their members. Look forward to more unions between the clubs in the future.
(PS: pictures of the festivities can be found on the Whovians@UCI facebook page)
